The Intellectual Consciousness Unit
About the Unit:
The Intellectual Consciousness Unit at The Gulf College is a unit affiliated with the office of His Excellency the Dean of the College. It focuses on all religious and intellectual aspects that impact society in all its segments. The unit is responsible for developing programs and plans to combat deviant thinking and behavior. It was established based on the gracious royal order number (27526) dated 21 Jumada Al-Akhir 1436 AH, in accordance with the media plan to confront propaganda and promotion of deviant ideas among Saudi youth and society in general. The establishment of the Intellectual Consciousness Unit is part of a broader initiative to create such units in all universities. Consequently, His Excellency the Dean of the College, Dr. Mohammed bin Dhafir Al-Dosari, issued an administrative decision on 13 Shawwal 1442 AH (corresponding to 25 May 2021) to form the Intellectual Consciousness Unit. The unit includes specialized professors in Sharia, law, psychology, media, and public relations. It collaborates with various judicial, religious, educational, security, and media entities, in addition to the participation of several students.
Unit's Vision
Achieving an intellectual consciousness characterized by a moderate approach in methodology among the college's staff, and students to protect themselves and help others discover and combat deviant thinking, with knowledge of the latest prevention and treatment methods.
Unit's Mission
The Intellectual Consciousness Unit seeks to raise a conscious generation aware of the risks of extremist ideological deviation and the behaviors that lead to it. It also aims to support Islamic values and promote loyalty, belonging, and obedience to the authority.
Unit's Objectives
The objectives of The Intellectual Consciousness Unit:
- Enhancing loyalty to religion, followed by loyalty to the rulers and promoting patriotism and its values.
- Disseminating a culture of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence.
- Preventing extremist thinking and addressing its effects.
- Monitoring intellectual violations, extremist ideas, and negative behaviors in the university institution in accordance with the guidelines set by the ministry in light of regulations and laws.
- Encouraging research initiatives in intellectual issues and promoting national allegiance and unity.
